I try to strike a balance between being as green as possible, but not driving my family nuts going overboard. These are some of the easiest habits I have picked up over the years:

We try to keep our fast food visits down to once a week, but we still manage to acquire 7 days worth of paper napkins each time we go – I have been keeping them, and put them in our cars for quick cleanups, wiping faces, dashboards, etc…

Cloth in the kitchen – napkins, washcloths, dish towels – we haven’t bought paper products for the kitchen in a long time except for a roll of paper towels once a month or so for making tacos – if anyone has a solution for blotting tortillas, share please!

Reusable shopping bags – I keep plenty in my trunk, and even a few compact ones in my purse. We still manage to have a stash in the kitchen, which I use for catching veggie peels and lining the bathroom trash.

We do buy SOME juice bags, but I am more likely to use a reusable bottle filled with juice or water that has been frozen to keep the boys lunches cold. By the time lunch rolls around, the drink is thawed!

I choose cleaners that are more environmentally friendly – Method is one I love because they have refills, smell great, and are kind to the environment – so is Mrs. Meyers. Those are the only household cleaners I buy anymore!

These are small habits, and I am trying to make better choices (less packaging), but every little bit counts! What simple habits have you and your family adopted to be a little “greener”?

..is Domestic Chicky?

Hmmm, let’s see. I have been working on a proposal for PR assignment for a great author in advance of her next book, I have been couch shopping (seriously – we have been to 3 places that have the SAME FURNITURE – do they think we won’t notice the same leather-bottom, tweed topped sectional?), we have been school clothes shopping (yay target!), I have been TRYING to purge my house of a lot of STUFF that seemed at the time to be useful, I am working on a new fun blog design for a client, taking tons of pictures of the boys (when they hold still), looking for crafty chick contributors for Blissfully Domestic AND The Apronista(interested? leave a comment or email me!), longing for fall, and generally keeping busier than I should be. Some break, huh?

I think we are painting sometime soon, and when that happens I will post before and after pictures. Trust me when I tell you that a quirky color-loving girl and a vanilla, khaki and polo shirt guy CANNOT agree on paint colors.

Since I can’t leave without something fun to do or see, here are a few links I have enjoyed lately – ohm and if you have google reader, you can follow my shared items like the ones over here >> . Seriously, if I could make a blog of just shared stuff – (hmm…)

Lots of fun Memes (I am going to do a few here soon!) over at Tip Junkie

I want to be Ali Edwards when I grow up…

Adorable Toddler Bento Boxes at Ohdeedoh

Oh my gosh – this Green Bean recipe I posted on Blissfully Domestic was posted on Martha Stewart’s Dinner Tonight - if you try it, let me know what you think!
