Tomorrow night I am going to go see The Women – thanks to Dove, I received 2 tickets to see the re-make of the 1939 classic (one of my favorites actually). I was thrilled to see that Debra Messing is in this version (I STILL covet her hair from WIll & Grace). It also stars Meg Ryan, Annette Bening, Eva Mendes, Jada Pinkett Smith, Cloris Leachman, Bette Midler and Candice Bergen. It’s an ALL female cast – no men whatsoever (which seriously, is a good thing once in awhile).
What’s the Dove connection? Good question!
“Dove worked with film director Diane English to create a short film called The Women Behind “The Women.” This short film follows 16-year-old teen journalist Cammy Nelson behind-the-scenes of The Women to learn, first-hand, how Hollywood creates the images we see on screen, highlighting the work and people involved in making a major motion picture come to life.
The short film encourages women to challenge today’s beauty stereotypes, celebrates the opportunities for women to empower one another and explores the diverse definitions of beauty, shared through interviews with some of the cast and crew of The Women. The Women Behind “The Women” is available exclusively on Dove.com. “
These little short films are SO good – If you are a behind-the-scenes of a movie junkie like me, you willl LOVE these!
I can’t wait! What a perfect movie to have some chick bonding (and a glass of wine maybe??). I’ll give you the full movie review next week! I would love to hear if you and any of your girlfriends go to this, and what you thought!
I’m a huge fan of the original movie. Let me know if this re-make is anywhere near as good. Maybe then I’ll risk giving it a chance.
I really want to see it too. Have a great time!
Hope you had a fabulous time. So how was it?
The 1939 version is sooo good! Let us know if the 2008 version comes close to the original.
Did you ever see the 1956 musical remake, with June Allyson, called “The Opposite Sex?” It was lovely also.
I’ve never seen the original but I’ve seen enough preview for this one to seriously want to go. I may have to “call a meeting” w/the girls very soon!
How was it? I didn’t know this was a re-make… Can’t wait to see it.
